Why the HBS-LN Series?

Mechanical Load Holding

Once the nut is seated the load no longer depends on hydraulic pressure.

Safe Work Under Load

With the nut seated, working under the load becomes safe.

Stop Ring

The plunger stops at full stroke and is protected against off-centre loads.

Trapezoidal Plunger Thread

TR 170×6 to TR 400×6 plunger threads; the nut seats fully on the thread.

Tilt Saddle Option

Optional tilt saddle for surfaces inclined up to 5°.

How It Works?

Connect

A single hydraulic line connects to the pump with a quick coupler.

Lift

The pump raises the load to the required height.

Lock

The lock nut is turned down onto the cylinder top.

Release Pressure

Pressure is released; the load now rests on the nut.

Return

Lift slightly, back off the nut; the plunger returns under the load.

Nut Threads

Keep the threads and nut clean and lubricated; grit stops the nut from seating.

Seat the Nut First

Make sure the nut is fully seated before working under the load.

Seal Check

Have the seals checked if you see leaks or pressure loss.

Storage

Store upright with the plunger retracted and the coupler capped.

Questions About the HBS-LN Series

What is a lock nut hydraulic cylinder used for?

It holds a load mechanically after lifting. The trapezoidal-thread nut on the plunger is turned down onto the cylinder, so the load rests on the nut instead of on hydraulic pressure. Used on bridges, viaducts and steel structures where the load must stay in place.

Which capacities does HBS-LN cover?

200, 300, 400, 500, 700 and 1000 ton with 50–300 mm strokes: 30 models in total. All dimensions are in the model table.

What does load return mean?

The plunger is returned by the weight of the load, not by a spring or hydraulics. Without a load it may not retract fully on its own.

Is pressure needed while the nut holds the load?

No. Once the nut is seated, pressure can be released and the load is held mechanically.

Which pump should be used?

A 700 bar hand or electric pump. For models with large oil volume (see the model table) an electric pump saves time.
