TECHNICAL GUIDE · BOLT TIGHTENING METHOD SELECTION

Torque, or Tensioning?

Every bolted joint has the same objective: the correct pre-tension. That load can be reached in one of two ways — by rotating the nut (torque) or by pulling the stud directly (tensioning). The right method depends on the joint's criticality, diameter, bolt count, and budget. This guide helps you make that call with an engineer's eye.
